Great Sacandaga Lake 3-D Nautical Wood Chart, Medium, 13.5" x 31"
If you’re looking for an undiscovered escape in the Adirondack Mountains, there’s no better place to visit than Great Sacandaga Lake. The lake features incredible boating, skiing, fishing, and watersports, giving the entire family something to enjoy.
Great Sacandaga Lake features 125 miles of shoreline and has a surface area of just over forty square miles. The lake was created in 1930 after nearly six years of work on damming the Sacandaga River. New York State owns the lake and much of the surrounding area, but no public money is used to manage the reservoir.
This topographical lake art is created using the finest Baltic birch and is modeled after the lake’s depths using a bathymetric chart. An artist uses the chart’s measurements to laser cut pieces of birch into the precise outline of the lake’s shoreline and floor, gluing them together to create the look of depth and dimension our wood charts are famous for. The map layers depicting the water are hand-stained, and points of interest, towns, and other locations are etched into the map’s surface. The wood lake is finished with a layer of acrylic glass for protection and durability.
